Reviving Sugarcane Production in the USVI: A New Era for Caribbean Rum

It all begins with an idea.

The lush landscapes of the U.S. Virgin Islands have a storied history of sugarcane production, a tradition that dates back to the 17th century. Today, this rich legacy is experiencing a renaissance, thanks to a concerted effort to revive sugarcane farming and promote the unique rums that can only be crafted from this heritage crop. At the forefront of this movement are Cardow Jewelers and Rum Tours VI, both dedicated to supporting and celebrating the resurgence of sugarcane rums like Extra Virgin Rums and Hamilton Lafayette Rums.

The Legacy of Sugarcane in the USVI

For centuries, sugarcane was the lifeblood of the Caribbean, driving the economy and shaping the cultural landscape. The fertile soil and favorable climate of the U.S. Virgin Islands made it an ideal location for cultivating this vital crop. However, over time, the rise of other industries and the decline of traditional agriculture led to a reduction in sugarcane farming.

 A Revival Begins

Today, there is a renewed interest in reviving sugarcane production in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Local farmers, historians, and businesses are collaborating to bring back this iconic crop. This revival is not just about agriculture; it's about preserving a vital part of the islands' heritage and creating a sustainable future for the next generation.

Supporting the Revival: Cardow Jewelers and Rum Tours VI

Cardow Jewelers, a beloved local institution, and Rum Tours VI, known for their immersive rum experiences, have joined forces to support the revival of sugarcane production. Celebrating Sugarcane Rums

At Rum Tours VI, visitors can experience firsthand the extraordinary qualities of sugarcane rums. The tours feature tastings of Extra Virgin Rums and Hamilton Lafayette Rums, both crafted with care and precision from locally grown sugarcane. These rums stand out for their distinct flavors, which reflect the unique terroir of the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Extra Virgin Rums: These rums are known for their smooth, rich taste and exceptional purity. Made from freshly harvested sugarcane, they capture the essence of the Caribbean in every sip. Extra Virgin Rums are celebrated for their complex flavor profiles, making them a favorite among connoisseurs.

Hamilton Lafayette Rums: Named after the historic figures that influenced the Caribbean rum trade, Hamilton Lafayette Rums are a testament to the enduring legacy of sugarcane. These rums offer a robust, full-bodied flavor that speaks to the traditional methods of rum production. They are a perfect example of how heritage and modern craftsmanship can come together to create something truly special.

 An Invitation to Explore

Visitors to the U.S. Virgin Islands are invited to explore the revival of sugarcane production through Rum Tours VI. The tours provide an educational and sensory journey, where guests can learn about the history of sugarcane in the Caribbean, witness the process of rum making, and, of course, enjoy tastings of the finest sugarcane rums.
